•    Siemens Healthineers and PRINC aim to form a strategic partnership to develop a Cancer Center of Excellence in Thailand.
•    The partnership signifies a commitment towards redefining the future of cancer care, by setting new standards for quality, affordability, and accessibility.

Principal Capital Public Company Limited and Siemens Healthineers have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to set the foundation for a collaborative partnership to develop a leading Cancer Center of Excellence in Thailand.

Krittavith Lertutsahakul, (M.D.) Managing Director and Vice Chairman of the Board of Director, Principal Capital Public Company Limited stated that According to the Global Cancer Observatory (GCO), cancer is still one of the leading causes of death in Thailand with 92,000 deaths recorded and over 150,000 new cases in 2020. Early detection and timely treatment are crucial factors in effectively managing cancer. PRINC will collaborate with Siemens Healthineers to establish a Cancer Centre of Excellence in Thailand, to study the plans to expand the Cancer Center of Excellence, elevate the standards of comprehensive cancer care with high quality, expand access to cancer diagnosis, and provide convenience to patients with comprehensive treatment at an affordable price.

“This collaboration will lead to the expansion of cancer treatment centres, following the hospital’s master plan. Aside from Pitsanuvej Hospital, there are plans to expand to Princ Hospital Sisaket, which is under construction and expected to be completed and operational by the end of 2024. The expansion will be further extended to other hospitals within the network and currently we are studying the expansion of specialized medical centers for cancer treatment to neighboring countries. Furthermore, PRINC aims to broaden its healthcare service coverage nationwide, particularly in secondary cities. Currently, there are a total of 15 hospitals in the network, with 14 operating in 11 provinces. In the future, there is an investment goal for specialized medical centers to address complex diseases, meeting the healthcare needs of the population in each area, targeting around 20 centers within the years 2024-2026,” Dr. Krittavith concluded.

Ms. Vy Tran, President of Asia Pacific & Japan at Siemens Healthineers stated, “Siemens Healthineers is a leader in medtech and committed to pioneering breakthroughs in healthcare for everyone and everywhere and doing it sustainably. Our collaboration with PRINC is a significant step in our mission to advance comprehensive cancer care and build a world without the fear of cancer.  With the combined strength of Siemens Healthineers and Varian, we will work together with PRINC to better serve patients with high quality cancer care that is accessible and affordable. We will achieve this through accelerating the transfer of knowledge in oncology management across clinical, technical, and managerial fields and by providing integrated innovative technologies across the entire continuum of cancer care.”

Mr. Björn Bodenstein, Managing Director of Siemens Healthineers, Thailand, added, “Cancer has been a relentless threat to the lives of many whilst high quality cancer care has not been widely accessible in Thailand. Our partnership with PRINC will introduce the latest technologies to pave the way for the next level of cancer care in the country. This is aligned with our company’s mission to fight the most threatening diseases, enable efficient operations, and improve access to care for everyone, everywhere.”
